Hello. I'm Joel Ward. I'm many things at once.

Professionally, I'm a teacher and school administrator of an alternative high school program, serving young people who have left traditional education but desire and need the opportunity to help themselves, better their lives. Ten years and hundreds of students later, I know the need for action and care in the lives of our children, know how just one respectful voice can make a difference and can change lives.

More personally, I'm also a husband, father, community activist and small business owner. Galesburg, Illinois, has been my family's home since the mid-90s and I have worked very hard to make a positive difference in my adopted home city, initiating and working on multiple projects and with various volunteer organizations. Being there for those in need has always been at the top of the list for me, when it comes to giving of my free time, but enriching the cultural and historical life of Galesburg is also of deep interest to me.

As a small business owner, I am a graphic design artist, crafting everything from a business card to a website, a letterhead to a newsletter. Much of my local work has been with non-profit agencies, while nationally I've worked for a number of businesses and individuals. This began as a hobby, a long time interest in finding a way to express myself visually and become another way to both work but also give back through my work.

Please feel free to contact me about anything on my website. Thank you and have a great day!
